BlankHello all,

I have been a member of this group for, oh, over a year I guess. I have not

posted much, just been a " lurker " , and I got a lot of good information from all

the active members about this dreaded disease. My Dad was never officially

diagnosed with LBD, but he certainly had all the signs.......the hallucinations,

most specifically. He also had a blood disorder called myelodysplasia, which

also took it's toll on him.

Dad passed away this morning, mostly from complications of the MDS........his

doctor thinks it turned to a type of leukemia, which MDS is very close to

anyway. In these last days, his dementia also became very bad, to the point

where he was pretty much unable to be understood........he didn't even know me

when I last visited him while he was still conscious. Well, thankfully he

didn't have to suffer long. I am an only child, so most all the arrangements

and things that need to be done are up to me........my husband is my rock, and

helps me tremendously, thank goodness. Also thankfully, Dad had all the

arrangements made, and took care to make sure whatever could be done, he did in

advance. I knew all this beforehand, but no one understands how important all

that is until you have to deal with it.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that another battle against LBD has

been lost (or won, however you want to look at it). I will likely be signing

off the board in the next little while. I now have concerns of my Mom to worry

about........she has Alzheimer's and is in another nursing home.

Thank you all,

Lynda Marshall
