says the company that sells it. A company-funded clinical trial found short-term

positive effects in cognition and memory, but scientists say so far there is

insufficient evidence that the drink is effective.

My Dad has been taking these shakes for a couple of months now. He also started

Donepezil (Aricept-generic) at the same time, so it is not possible to see which

or if both together are helping him, but he has stabilized a great deal and my

mother swears by both additions to his diet! He is also putting on weight for a

change, and he had been dropping weight, despite his good appetite. He has

suffered absolutely no side effects that we have seen, or been mentioned by him.

If milkshakes would have helped, Ray would still be alive. He loved

milkshakes (albeit Mcs strawberry ones) and usually we took him one

whenever one of us visited him daily. Sometimes he didn't drink it all and

sometimes we had to wait because they were so thick and cold but he loved

them. I am sure these milkshakes you speak about here have better stuff

than Mcs but he loved them and we enjoyed seeing him enjoy something!!

Leona: Caregiver for husband Ray, age 68, diagnosed 2/04 with Parkinson's

Disease. Changed doctors, diagnosed 6/06 with LBD. Almost continual downhill

slide no matter what drugs we try. 5/2/08 Ray was placed in Sunrise Nursing

Home in Oswego, NY, 1 hour from home. So far, so good! Hardest thing I have

ever done in my life, however. 3/19/09 transferred to Samaritan Keep NH in

Watertown, NY closer to home. He passed peacefully at 5:18 am on April 14,

2009. I am handling it OK.

I'm sorry! I should have been clearer. This is a " medical food supplement "

called Axona. It requires a prescription, and, so far, we've been able to

supply dad for months with samples from his doctors. It's so new, they have

many samples and are happy to give it away to see how it is tolerated and if it

helps at all.
