Guest guest
Donna and friends Donna, it's like u have ESP- I just finished arranging for Hospice to come in and evaluate Mom on Friday morning! After speaking with mom's internist and the hospice nurse I am encouraged to see that my mother fits all the criteria for an evaluation referral for Hospice home-care! I will be meeting with the nurse on Friday morning - I am told there is a team of people that I will be able to rely on if mom is accepted in the program! I feel very alone in terms of family during this process - on the other hand I did accept the role of POA and Health care proxy for my mom in 2008 when this process was hazy and only a distant nightmare- I am humbled by the experience- I am also grateful that I have this group to check in with from time to time to shake me into reality and to help bear the load when it is too heavy to carry alone! Thank you and god bless you all Judy Office email: Jrstr@... Sent from my iPhone > Judy, > > I called for palative care myself. The advantage if the MD says she needs it, they will put her on immediately. But they evaluated Mom and put her on. > > Hugs, > > Donna R > > Cared for Mom 3 years in my home and the last year at a nh. Can u send me his contact info > Now I'm trying to figure out if we need hospice- the only doctor I am still working with is her internist- I'm in NYC and wonder If I shpuld be getting in touch with hospice myself or I'd I need the md to refer me? > > Judy > > Office email: > Jrstr@... > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > > Judy - My hope is that the doctor (or someone else) was able to figure out what made your Mom agitated. Sometimes it can be something so small. Other times it can be significant but we have to figure out what it is and pay close attention to any non-verbal cues. At times, a small adjustment to something can make a difference. I hope that was the case. You mentioned going to NY to see a doctor. I would highly recommend Dr. Jim Galvin. If you need his information, please let me know. > > > > > >
