Guest guest
I'm a first timer in this, and am embarrased discovering how ignorant I am of my own ACM, but that's why I am here. I could use your help. I had surgery in 1987 and have been slowly noticing progressive memory loss, fatigue, depression. Vertigo has been stable, though its onset was immeidately after the decompression. Have no idea if I am Type I, II, or III, though it appears from my early reading I am Type I based on the reltively symptom-free life since the decompression other than the above. Pre-surgery, I had double vision, trouble swallowing, headaches, etc. Assuming I am Type I (though I did learn recently that my syrinx has progressed lower into the spine, and that my hydrocephallus may need shunting due to the memory compolaints)My question is: Just how progressive is this disease, if at all, for Type I patients having lived now for 13 years pretty much trouble free. What I ma reading now suggests that ALL types progress in their symptoms, once the plateau period I am currently in levels off. Is this true or can anyone suggest a doctor I can ask these questions to in or near the State of Colorado? Thanks you and God bless. \ Mike Dawson
