Guest guest
I would think there is a range of imitation which all or most human beings have, because otherwise children would never learn ANYTHING by imitating the adults or other children around them. Like my son, 3.5 years old, who is sitting on his plastic dump truck, will suddenly say in a " man voice " " I am taking a lunch break now " and he leans on the truck like he's a construction worker taking a break. Then about 5 seconds later, he goes " Break's over, I have to get back on the job. " I know this is not the same type of imitation as in some autistic people but I would think it's something everyone does, maybe an " imitation spectrum. " People who can do it really well get to be actors and make millions. If I go anywhere south for even a day, I come back with an Appalachian- type accent. A friend of mine met someone who specializes in Southern accents and can tell which couple of counties a person is from when he hears them speak.
