Guest guest
Hi everyone Dad has had 2 very bad hallucinating, confused, anxiety filled days. The marines have come in the house and told him not to get up from the chair, calling my sister - my aunt's name (his sister) she died in 2005. Afraid of all the imaginary people in the house. Things mentally and physically are going down the path - of very bad ending. He is so darn skinny and having trouble swallowing too. Walking is very scary tenuous undertaking which he still tried to do and people encouraging it - but I don't know how he hasn't fallen again. He did fall 2 weeks ago, then this bad turn. Could hitting his head have caused this downturn? Don't know what I am asking here - I am just sad. H
Guest guest
, I am so sorry boy I do know how hard this is. But there might be something going on with your father also, aside from this disease. To answer your question if " yes " - if your father fell and hit his head that could be causing problems. How thoroughly was he checked out after he fell? My mil has had two concussions (that we know of from falls we were aware of) and we got into the habit of taking her to the ER everytime she had a bad fall. We were advised this was reasonable to do. After one bad fall where she had a fractured back that was missed for two weeks (she broke her arm and they moved her to rehab), my husband and I decided to be on the safe side and have someone check her out thoroughly if she had a bad fall or fell and had any complaint of discomfort. I am in contact with a family in a nearby town who's loved fell at the facility she lived in. Her behavior and delusions became more and more bizarre but no one had taken her to the ER after the fall to be checked out. Turns out she had a subdural hematoma for two months that was causing this problem and other problems. She is still in the hospital - now about a week. I'm not sure what they can or will do for her. She took another fall and the paramedics were called and when they did a ct scan they found the old previous injury. But what is much more common to cause a sudden behavior change like this is infection - a UTI (urinary tract infection) or Pneumonia especially. Has he had a UA with culture and a chest xray? He may or may not have a temperature even if he has a raging infection. I found that out with my mil - she can be very ill and have no temp and even a normal white count. If he hasn't been seen I would consider this. Maybe there is an infection that with some antibiotics will resolve and he'll feel better. -Dorothy From: LBDcaregivers [mailto:LBDcaregivers ] On Behalf Of Hanley Sent: Monday, October 17, 2011 9:55 AM To: LBDcaregivers Subject: Re: Dad is progressing in a bad direction Hi everyone Dad has had 2 very bad hallucinating, confused, anxiety filled days.
