Guest guest
hi andria! i too am going to try biofeedback... someone, i think laurie (sorry if i got it wrong) responded and wrote about being hooked up to electrodes... this is not at all what happened to me. i haven't started the exercises yet because i just ordered the machine. the concept is simple... our pelvic muscles have a resting rate (as do all muscles) and they spasm (as do all muscles) it has been found that when inserting a probe into the vagina and measuring these things, many many women with vulvar pain have abnormally high resting rates and the spasms are more extreme then normal. (in the pelvis that is!) they have found that pelvic exercises, basically kegels, over time will reduce both the resting rates and spasm strengths.... they want you to exercise the muscle to make it healthier, to promote blood flow to the area and promote healing. i had fun during my initial eval. i could visually see where my resting rate was... and could compare it to what my doc said was normal! and i could see my muscle movement(spasms) even tho i wasn't contracting my muscles. then i did the exercises as a practice round... contract and release... even tho we didn't do many, after i was done... the resting level had already GONE DOWN!! of course it returned to the orginial level since we hadn't worked for very long. but it was very interesting. i don't know about you but the pain i have had has affected my ability to relax my pelvic muscles! there is always the possibility that it will be found that your pelvic muscles are already at normal levels... then you don't have to buy the machine. also, i have been told that the exercise may help my senstitive bladder and irritable bowel syndrome! anyway.. i too am still in beginning stages, so good luck. respond if what i have wrote is confusing! katie _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
