Guest guest
Hi again Judy, My husband has already outlived the initial prognosis by one or two years. Now, along with everything else he is choking, coughing, and forgetting how to swallow. My aide and I have developed a method of helping the swallowing situation, but the choking or coughing happens at no particular forecast time, and is hard to relieve. I was told that I could begin withdrawing any medication as I see fit. I studied the exelon characteristics online, and realized that this drug is meant for early to middle sufferers of LBD. I decided to omit it, and, as previously reported...he seemed to benefit from the withdrawal. I just stopped it " cold. " Now, although he is back with his previous losses, he seems no worse without the exelon patch. I have continued his namenda, zoloft, and gabapentin, because this combination seems to help him sleep through the night, and is calming during the day. Because he cannot speak anymore it is difficult to know if he recognizes anyone at any time. Sometimes he will smile with the same look he once had...a minute of joy!! These moments are now few and far between. We do seem to be on a similar path. Hang in there... Marcia C.
