Guest guest
The first advice i read for diabetics was eat smaller mealss more often. I am resticting this advice to those trying for dietary control. Insulin is required to admit glucose to cells for use as energy, additionally it is needed to store glucosee and later release it for use. It's the analyttical in me that said if you try to eat all carbs at set times, you don't have sufficient effective insulin to store and relese. If you did you would not test diabetic, high after eating, lows in between meals. I was also asked what do people do that can't afford test tapes. Whayt I do is eat modest amounts, not necessarily carbs, and wait untill I'm hungry. At first one must test to determine it it is really hunger until you establish the feeling. Then when you run down your supply of glucose, and get hungry, eat in moderation, amounts you know won't bring on big peaks. Your pancreas stores insulin, so if you do not demand it for meals, it can help you even out your sugars. The question was asked do people use medication so they can eat " forbidden foods " I think the more common answer is people use medication so they can eat at " normal " times. I had to snack using insulin, there were low periods during the day. Sam
