My opinion is that if his speech is age appropriate I

would suggest focusing your efforts on other things

other than signing but if it's no effort to continue

to use some signs to do so.

For instance, I no longer page through my sign

language books looking up signs but the ones I already

know I still use automatically such as: No, Stop, Why,

Again, etc.

It takes no effort to do this and reinforce my words,

and it keeps the signs fresh in my mind. It's nice

running into disabled kids in waiting rooms or at

friends' houses and where they're used to people

ignoring them because most people can't sign, I'm able

to do simple (very simple) conversations and they just

look forward to seeing me.
