Guest guest
A little over a week ago, I applied for a civilian job with the Navy for one of their field offices in Europe. I wasn't overly picky about where, since they listed Germany, Italy, Greece, and the UK as places where they had multiple openings, but listed a preference for Germany or Italy. The reasons why I put in for it were several fold. Firstly, the US as a whole country has worn thin on me, for lack of a better term. I don't enjoy how, here in the US, so many people, and so many things are in such a hurry to get everywhere, and to do everything so quickly. In stark contrast, people there, take the time to enjoy life, and are much more tolerant as a whole of individualism than here in the US. Also, whenever I've gone to Europe I've felt far more free than I ever did here. I was free to be myself, not afraid to be looked at as different whenever I opened my mouth, and the list goes on. I just feel like that'd be a far better place for me. I'm crossing my fingers, and hoping that I hear something relatively soon, and that I get my choices of either Italy or Germany (both countries have several cities with Field offices, and several openings in each field office). It also doesn't hurt that I know several languages to varying degrees, so it will make for excellent practice of my language skills. I'll keep you all posted on the status.
