Guest guest
, My mom has been taking morphine – dilaudid for years now. If you father is thrashing I would definitely give him the morphine. Sending you all strength. How can I person die comfortably of LBD - this is very traumatic to see the thrashing and shaking bed, etc. mailto:hanleylin%40aol.com H
Guest guest
Dear , I hate that your dad is so uncomfortable. My mother had a peaceful ending with a small amount of dilaudid her last 3 weeks. It did not appear to have any negative side effects. The best possible to you and your dad. > > OK > > > Now I have figured out all the contraindicated drugs - Hospice gave Dad Lorazapan and he had very agitated night - I learned that they give morphine and other drugs as a person is dying - is it OK to give someone that is in the process of death and close to death all these drugs that they are not supposed to have ? > > > How can I person die comfortably of LBD - this is very traumatic to see the thrashing and shaking bed, etc. > > > hanleylin@... > > > H > > >
Guest guest
, I am so sorry your father is having such a rough time - and you and everyone else as well. Do you know how much Lorazapan they gave your father? Do they understand the need to start off VERY low with ANYTHING and then WAIT and see ? I can give my mother in law a very small amount of ativan (no more than .25 ml in a dropper - which is about 4-5 drops) and it helps her. Anymore than that at a time and she gets agitated and delirious and restless. I imagine it could be the same with the morphine or halodol or other drugs hospice uses when used with an LBD patient who is drug sensative. We are going to start hospice because we cannot get pain management from her doctor unless she is in hospice. I am dreading all the experimentation this is going to bring but the start very low rule is one I'm going to follow. All I can suggest is keep track of how much of what drug is given - have them write it on a log in a notebook where it's easy to access. And make sure they start off very low on anything. They can always give a little more - a few more drops - and see if there's a dose that the drug works or not. I hope someone with more experience will be able to suggest something more concrete. -Dorothy From: LBDcaregivers [mailto:LBDcaregivers ] On Behalf Of Hanley Sent: Friday, November 11, 2011 4:19 AM To: lbdcaregivers Subject: drug question OK Now I have figured out all the contraindicated drugs - Hospice gave Dad Lorazapan and he had very agitated night - I learned that they give morphine and other drugs as a person is dying - is it OK to give someone that is in the process of death and close to death all these drugs that they are not supposed to have ?
