I gave Mom three pills and it was so bad, I called her MD and we took her off

it.  She just went wild on it. So not everyone can take it.

Excelon question

My husband started his Excelon today. Does anyone know about how long it takes

before we should notice a difference?

My wife had a very rapid response once Excelon was initiated. I noticed a

cognitive improvement that began within 2 weeks, maybe less. Then the doc

quickly titrated her up to the maximum dosage. After she she demonstrated

improvement, he went to immediately add on Namenda with further impoverishment.

I am not sure if this is typical or not. The doc commented that she was a

good responder. That was in 2007. She has since begun to slide as Lewy

progresses the last few years.

Since patients and Lewy vary to such a degree, I do not know how to quantify the

improvement or duration, had she not taken these meds.

Hope you and your husband are able to enjoy the maximum benefit possible.

This would be a great question for the prescribing MD. Also ask him/her what

side effects would warrant your taking your husband off Exelon immediately.

My husband, age 65 with LBD. I am his wife. He was put on the Excelon

Patch (I think it was 4.5)and that has been great. I noticed a difference

right away. When he had some decline, we went up to the next dosage of the

Excelon Patch (I believe 9.6). I have heard that there have been reactions

to the pill. My husband has tolerated the patch just fine. Everyday the

patch is put on a different part of the body.
