,

My condolences on your loss. I'm glad to read that your mother's passing was

peaceful.

Robin

PS. There is no overlap from a pathologic perspective of LBD and MSA. LBD has

Lewy bodies and the pathology is in the brainstem and cortex. MSA has no Lewy

bodies and the pathology is in the brainstem. There is some overlap from a

clinical perspective but MSA has no dementia.

years while my mother declined. There is some question about whether my mother

had LBD or MSA but I think that there is a likelihood that all of these

neurological diseases may overlap. Mom passed away on November 25th, the day

after Thanksgiving, after three months with hospice, and a near passage in

August. Our experience with hospice was not as supportive as many others on

this caregiving website, we are in upstate NY, but they still gave us necessary

support. Mom's passing was as peaceful and serene as we could hope for. Wishing

you all support on this difficult journey,

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. The battle is over for her at

least. I hope that you and your family can focus now on the good days of

her life and the love you all shared as you go forward.

My condolence to you and your family.  I am sorry about the Holiday as this

becomes a marker in the next few years.

I am glad this group has helped you. As long as it did, we are glad you were

here regardless of the name of your mother's condition. It was a big help

to me as I went through our struggles and have tried to be supportive of

others since my husband's death.

Now you will find a peace, I hope, in knowing she is resting in a better

place. The memories of the illness will fade and the good memories of a

life well lived will return. Good luck and God Bless your family in your

loss. Leona

Leona: Caregiver for husband Ray, age 68, diagnosed 2/04 with Parkinson's

Disease. Changed doctors, diagnosed 6/06 with LBD. Almost continual downhill

slide no matter what drugs we try. 5/2/08 Ray was placed in Sunrise Nursing

Home in Oswego, NY, 1 hour from home. So far, so good! Hardest thing I have

ever done in my life, however. 3/19/09 transferred to Samaritan Keep NH in

Watertown, NY closer to home. He passed peacefully at 5:18 am on April 14,

2009. I am handling it OK.
