" does anybody know anything about this drug? "

Hi Jane,

Lamotrigine pronounced: (La moe tri jeen) also known as brand name: Lamictal, is

used for seizures or schizophrenia.

I am wondering if you have a doctor familiar with LBD. Has your mother had a

history of seizures or just since LBD?

LBD does not typically have seizures. I thought my husband was having seizures,

because every month, sometimes twice a month, he would totally blank out. His

body would tremble and his eyes would go up into his head and he would go limp.

Thankfully, he was in a wheelchair and not standing or he would just collapse to

the floor at those times. His neurologist did an EEG Scan and there was no signs

of seizure.

The LBD brochure

http://lbda.org/sites/default/files/booklet-for-newly-diagnosed-patients2.pdf st\

ates:

Other common Lewy body dementia symptoms not required for diagnosis:

http://www.lbda.org/node/199

*Significant changes in the autonomic nervous system, including temperature

regulation, blood pressure and digestion. Dizziness, fainting.

*Repeated falls attributed to dizziness, fainting, transient loss of

consciousness.

Because of they way my husband trembled before passing out, I thought it was

seizures, but it was fainting the neurologist said.

It is due to the autonomic nervous system, The fainting is due to Orthostatic

Hypotension http://www.aafp.org/afp/2003/1215/p2393.html

Make sure your mom is on the correct medication for her symptom.
