Patty's surgery

Today is Patty's big day for her surgery. We got the call and it is at

1:00pm. This is a first since she had always gone in early in the morning.

Now that she is older she has to wait, they do the little ones first. Of

course she can't have any food today, that will be hard. The biggest worry

for me is the anesthesia. They better get it right. Then again there is the

pain issue. Right now she is treating this like it is a fun event. She has

people calling and visiting her to wish her good luck. They are also telling

her they will visit her. At one point she even asked if she should make a

schedule so she won't have too many people at one time. She will find out

soon enough that she won't feel like having many visitors. We have told her

everything but have presented it to her in a positive manner. You never know

though, she might be better than the doctors say she will.

One of the things I wanted to tell everyone is that Patty is getting done

at Yale which is a teaching hospital. Before her surgeries we have to make

sure the surgeon is the person who is touching her and not residents.

Otherwise, they let them do stuff. Like I said, Patty is a guinea pig

sometimes. Sometimes that is fine so they could know things for future

children. But when it comes to things like this, only the specialist can do

the job. I know I sound scattered, I hope you all know what I mean.

Well, it is time to go clean the house. I will be staying with Patty and

and Kris will be home. I can just imagine what it will look like when

we get home, dishes in the sink, laundry overflowing...

Wish us luck, I'll let you know how it went when we get back. Bye

Hi Bonnie,

My name is Chip and I also have Charge Syndrome. I'm 21 years old, and I'm

from Los Angeles, Ca. I hope that Pattty will be okay in the surgery. I used

to have surgery when I was younger, and when I was a baby.

I also know from her website. Now, we type each other letters and

keep in touch!

My e-mail address is: chip0616@...

Keep in touch!

Bonnie,

You and Patty will be in our thoughts over the next few days. Hope all goes

well and that she is not in too much pain. Jack is going to hospital on

Monday for his next percutaneous nepholithotomy to remove kidney stones from

his left kidney and I'll also be leaving the housework etc to my husband !!

He's coming up for the surgery but going home that night to look after our

daughter.

Good luck and give Patty our love.
