Guest guest
, Ally is fed orally and she eats fairly well. She takes Propulsid before each feeding and Pepcid twice a day. She did not have a reflux problem until Feb of this year following her hard palate repair when she was 18 mths old. She was doing really well on the Propulsid and Pepcid until this weekend - she is crying and gagging when we feed her and having horrible gas. She does not have a nissan as the meds were controlling the reflux. Robin mom to Ally
Guest guest
Robin, How is Ally fed? Does she have a Nissen? Something needs to be done about the reflux, she shouldn't be dealing with that for years and years. Is she on any reflux meds or even Zantac? I'd get another opinion. Mylicon won't cut it for that kind of gas. Ally has horrible reflux which is now being accompanied by the worst gas I have ever heard come from a child. (sounds like something a 300 lb man would do) The gas is accompanied by alot of pain and severe crying fits. So I called yesterday to see what I could give her for gas because mylocon drops don't phase her at all. Well, the nurse called me back this morning and told me not to let her swallow air during her crying fits!!!! OK - now I am no genius but how do you prevent your child from swallowing air? The nurse didn't know either. ANYWAYS - does anyone have any suggestions for gas pains? Ally is almost 2 and it doesn't seem to be related to any paticular food. Guest guest
Robin, That is unfortunate, reflux and gas are so awful for them to go through. Maybe it's time for a med-change to see if that makes a difference. Let us know how it goes.
