,

I would make sure that she tells your Dad's doc and determine how he

would want to stop these meds. Not sure if you discontinue immediately or

taper the dosage over a few days.

Vesicare is an anticholinergic.   The following information is directly from

the official product PI:

" Vesicare is a muscarinic antagonist indicated for the treatment of overactive

bladder with symptoms of

urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency. "

Muscaric receptors are cholinergic in nature, they depend upon acetylcholine as

a neuro transmitter, therefore Vesicare elicits its activity by blocking the

 cholinergic receptors, hence and anticholinergic.

Most anticholinergics should be avoided by LBD patients as you know.

If she is thinking that she is treating a bladder problem your Dad might be

expereincing, there may be much better, safer and more effective agents from

which to select.

 Just my interpretation

Good Luck

Jeff

What about Vesicare - just found out today that my mother has been giving it to

Dad, even though Doctor said not to. I will look it up now - but is it bad for

LBD and PD patients ?
