No, Tootie, I'm still around - I just got a few months behind with my

emails, that's all it was, but I am slowly catching up. I also had a

little hassle converting from EGroups to Yahoo! but it seems to be

working now.

I hope that you are still beating the odds, Tootie!

I am doing fine, thanks, Tootie. I seem to have the diabetes thing

licked at last - HbA1c around 4.5% for at least 6 months now and I am

just taking a nominal 250mg Glucophage each morning (my physician is

being very cautious). My wife has had around 6.1% also for many

months with a Glucophage 850mg split in two, half in the morning and

half at night, plus 0.5mg Amaryl in the morning only - but then she

doesn't exercise and I do. And you may remember I started out with

HbA1c of 12 and she with BGs in the 700's!

I attribute the improvement to us both eating mainly fruit and

vegetables now - just as Sam always recommends! In fact it was mostly

Sam (plus the ADA) that got us onto it.

So it shows that if you do all the right things, learn all you can

about the disease, have a little luck, keep an open mind and have

faith, even diabetes can be beaten. And what we were told was an 800-

pound gorilla turns out to have been just a wicked little monkey!

Wow! You know when you have diabetes big-time when the test strip

manufacturer sends a salesman around to see you regularly (hoping for

a big order, I presume)! Wow!

Yeah, well you can't control everything! Being able to control your

diabetes is more than many folks can hope for! Most can't even

control their kids!

Sure I will. To tell the truth, I have been concentrating on the

weight-loss problem since I last posted here and I think that I have

that licked, too. Again the fruit and vegetables did the job for me -

all I have to do is to exercise for an hour or so each day and eat my

fruit and vegetables and my weight just creeps sloooowly downwards. I

expect to arrive in normal weight range (under BMI 25) some time next

month if all goes according to plan.

Could you post a little more about what fruits and veggies you eat? I would

be interested in that information.

I also exercise an hour a day but my weight is stalling...

thanks
