Guest guest
The good news is that Mom has not " abused " using the phone. She mostly calls my Dad and sometimes me. She seems to have no concept of how to dial the phone, so we put speed dial for Dad, me and my brothers. Maybe I should take Dad off speed dial. If Mom does start abusing her phone and calling all sorts of people at all hours, we will certainly take the phone away. In the end we had to have the phone disconnected. We told her there was a problem with the phone company and after awhile she accepted this and didn't ask again. Guest guest
As my husband progressed, he could no longer dial a phone or understand speed dial and would just randomly press numbers. I had 911 on speed dial for me and he would press that speed dial number while randomly pressing numbers and the police showed up at our door a few times and say, " You called? " and they would ask if I was ok. I couldn't understand why they were showing up until I put two and two together : ) ________________________________ To: LBDcaregivers Sent: Sunday, January 8, 2012 2:17 PM Subject: Re: Re: anxiety The good news is that Mom has not " abused " using the phone. Dad started dialing random numbers, perhaps by accident, after he lost all sense of time, but before he had 24 hour care. I found a phone at the Alzheimer's store that has big buttons for the people he wanted to talk to - you could label them with pictures, but since he could still read I used names. The phone could be used for normal calling somehow, but by default, it just called the programmed numbers. I still got calls in the middle of the night, but that was better than imagining him calling strangers at 3AM. Best regards, Ann
