Guest guest
Gee, and people complain in the S.F. Bay Area when it's 36! I hope that your cousin is safe, and remains so, love, n weather I know a lot of our country is gripped in extreme weather. I've watched the news about the ice storms and deep snow in some areas and warmer than usual weather in others. My cousin is a long distance truck driver and he called me from Joplin MO several nights ago to tell me he was stranded along with many other truckers because of the ice. His company told him to stay put. From Joplin he is supposed to go to Oklahoma for even more ice. Our priest went to visit family in land over the holidays and the flowering trees were blooming! Here in the Arizona desert we are having cold weather too. Here's a snip from the National Weather Service this evening: "THE COLDEST 2 CONSECUTIVE MORNINGS IN MORE THAN 28 YEARS SINCE THE7TH...8TH...AND 9TH OF DECEMBER 1978 OCCURRED AT SKY HARBOR INPHOENIX WITH 29 DEGREES EARLY SUNDAY AND MONDAY MORNINGS. LOWTEMPERATURES WERE WELL BELOW FREEZING AT JUST ABOUT ALL DESERTLOCATIONS WITH TEMPERATURES WELL DOWN INTO THE TEENS AT THE COLDESTSPOTS."It was 21 degrees here early this morning. Some of you may laugh at that being horribly cold but when you take into consideration that is a 90 degree drop in temperature for us since September. In September we were still having temps of 110. In the summer we usually have several months straight of 110 to 115, every day with it cooling to 100 at night. Now in Alaska we lived with temps below zero routinely at night and many days it didn't get above 10. I called Challis this morning to tell her about our cold temps and she said it was 8 or 9 degrees this morning when her hubby left for work. She lives in the northern part of the state where I used to live before Alaska. I was born and raised in this lower desert heat and I'm counting the days til I can get back to the mountains. So how are you all doing????hugs)))Sharon If the government is big enough to give you everything you want, it is big enough to take away everything you have. - Gerald Ford<!--[endif]--> Never miss an email again!Yahoo! Guest guest
Thank you. My cousin is a veteran trucker and knows the roads well but I still worry and fret every time I see a big rig involved in an accident on the national news. I hear there has been a major loss in the citrus crop in California. The last I heard was they were estimating that 75% of the crop had been lost due to the extreme freeze. And Arizona gets 90% of our citrus from California! We used to grow our own (citrus was one of our 4 major crops) but the developers have bought the crop land to put up houses and malls. :(What's your weather like today? I saw that seaside spots in Oregon got a foot of snow a few days ago. love...Sharon weather I know a lot of our country is gripped in extreme weather. Guest guest
Is it possible that she has developed Seasonal Affective Disorder? http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/seasonal-affective-disorder/DS00195 The episodes can also be short-term, like in response to weather you're describing. Lori weather Does anybody have experience with changes in affect along with changes in the weather, more so than usual that is? My mother's energy level, behavior, and mood seems to take a downturn whenever we get a low pressure system with rain showers through the area. Instead of napping through the day she sleeps for hours on end, not waking to eat or use the toilet. Curious.
Guest guest
I have noticed over the years that the weather has affected my Mom. But that doesn't mean that she has slept excessively on sunny days too. . .
