Guest guest
I wish I had that answer to on the weight. My guy gained 4 pounds and grew 2.5 inches in one year. I was so happy. He is now 50 pounds and 50 inches. He is 8 years old, but still wears slims. One year he had gained 1/2 pound and grew 4.5 inches. Not very good! We just started it on my daughter (4 yo) and I have noticed less bloating now that I've taken out all the grains and potatoes. I'm guessing it was hard for her to digest those complex carbohydrates. But it's hard to know what's going on for sure. Another question I have, if there is an average for most kids and if anyone knows, how many pounds a year is a child supposed to gain? Thanks for your help, Jena adoptinggrace wrote: Hi.. all kids are different of course. SCD was really a bad experience long term for my son though it helps many. FOS has been in some of the products we have tried and it has been really good for my little boy so far. I found many positive reasons to try it in research-but it won't work for all that's for certain. These guts are a mystery even to the top doctors in many cases so I guess the only thing we can do is find what works for our child and use the best guidance and common sense we can use. One thing I learned while on SCD is to look at my child's reaction more than anything. I left him on it far too long trying to be " legal " and for him it was not the right diet at all. Anything I try like FOS or anything else I am very cautious of and I do not at this point stay with anything that creates ongoing negatives even if it is supposed to be an " adjustment " or temporary side effect. That may not be the " right answer " but is what I feel comfortable with after several diet experiences that have caused negatives long term. We stick to some gf/cf/sf still which has proven for us to be safe for him and with it there is along history of use with the kids. For some children the restrictions of SCD produce great results and in that case I would continue... for others this is not the case. It's all so individual and I think is true of all diets, including gf/cf for some children. I have found that a combination of approaches sometimes is best for my son and I continue to be open to giving anything deemed safe a trial if there is evidence it might help and at times hit on a gem that seems to be beneficial for him. Best of luck to everyone in finding the right answer as far as diet and gut interventions goes! It can be a challenge for sure! Guest guest
Initially things were OK. Then we saw weight loss, lethargy, gray coloring, gray teeth, disconnected, low energy-- to mention the ones that come to mind. All resolved with stopping the diet. > > >> > > >> HI, > > >> From what I have read it decreases the appetite and we can't > > > afford that > > >> here. It promotes a feeling of fullness.
