The findings in those studies may be the tip of an iceberg. Home-use pesticides remain common. D'Amelio et al hypothesized and found that the US was likelier to have pesticide-associated autism because the US govt supports policies that allow pesticide use in home settings. The earlier news item reported that the USDA intends to hide information about pesticides in the US.
