He was a nice man, very decent and very kind and very polite. VERY polite, a gentleman, really. If he saw you making a genuine effort, then I imagine he would give you an " A " for that effort and let you move on to bottlefeeding. What he really objected to were women who were afraid that breastfeeding would ruin their figures which some women did think. Salli

It is pretty tough to get away from how you are raised and how you feel. I helped a friend of mine, a very nice person who just wanted to be a good mom, and it was simply impossible for her for she found the whole thing so embarrassing. I really didn't think it was her fault. So probably that is how it was for your mother? It's not as if you plan these things, is it? I'm too old to cut someone I enjoy out of my life just because they didn't breastfeed (and sounds as if Sara is too young to cut someone out of her life because they didn't breastfeed). And I must admit that occasionally when I am nursing two children at once I do give a little MOOOO! Salli

I know that criticism for the breastfeeder also exists, especially when you are nursing a toddler and beyond.
