Howdy Birrdyy,

If I stress dose after shower its usually only small 4 mg HC (my

tabs are 4mg strength). I must admit it seems to be needed less

often since starting T3 only meds.

Symptoms are breathlessness, overwhelming tiredness, limbs (legs

especially) feel real heavy, feel somewhat shaky too.

I usually rest, drink my Alkala N (Potassium & Sodium Bicarb powder

diluted in water) & take small stress dose. If I am going out I have

to take a shower several hours before or even the previous night to

avoid stressing myself too much.

I still put off having a shower as it wears me out...been getting

away with a shower every 3 days but that will change as Summer is

almost here. Fortunately dont have a bad problem with body odour.

But my hair is oily within 1-2 days.

Although stress dosing for a shower has gradually reduced in last 6

weeks (since T3)I do still need to stress dose to leave the house

for appointments, shopping, errands. If out at shops (requires a lot

on walking)I stress dose 4mg HC every hour or so if needed.

Strangely I didnt need to stress dose for driving myself the 1 1/4

hour drive to my parents house (went there Sunday returned Tuesday).

I did have to stress dose PLUS take a nap after we took a 20-30 mins

stroll around the foreshore & markets.

I think the shower business is to do with BP changes...as Salt

supping does seem to help. Also I'm certain its also some chemical

sensitivity to the Chlorine fumes (our water is heavily

Chlorinated.) I do have a shower filter which helped some too but

doesnt eliminate Chlorine completely.

It does seem to be more than just standing up for a period of time.

I used to have a problem with that too which is why I couldnt cook.

But now standing up to prepare, cook & serve is usually not a

problem.

With regards to blood sugar drops that does make sense too. I still

have to be careful to keep up frequent protein/ carb snacks or I

have issues there. Prednisolone did make that easier to manage much

smoother than HC only I found. Biggest hassle is I am not hungry &

have to force myself to eat (or pay the consequences).

Lee, I have a question about your comments about stress dosing for

showers.

I started a topic a couple of months ago about shower fatigue and

this seems to be something some of us have. For me specifically my

blood sugar drops like a rock (like 30 points in 15 minutes) and I'm

absolutely utterly exhausted after. Since cortisol and blood sugar

are so tied together I wonder if stress dosing would be an idea.

Can you tell me what your symptoms are that make you need to stress

dose and how much you use for this kind of stress.

Thanks.

Thanks Val,

I will keep an eye on HR as you suggest via my BP home monitor.

I am not planning to increase again until 8 week mark at which point I

will have been on 100mcg Tertroxin for 3 1/2 weeks. I was planning a

10 mcg increase then & similar increases every 10 days or so.

If you think that is too fast what schedule would you suggest.

Thanks..Lethal Lee

Sounds like you have pretty well got things under cntrol. Watch your

pulse as you raise the tertroxin. From that little dump on (was most

likly a clearing of the receptors) you may actually need to slow the

raises down.
