I agree that the " asperger's " part was over-emphasized, but I think there is a tie-in there. The majority of students apparently already identified her social skills as related to autism, but the response was to " follow through " with the prank by voting for her. They did so because they apparently accepted the autism as affecting social skills and regarded the prank (the nomination) as inappropriate. They also determined that she was worthy of being elected.
