Guest guest
Oh my Alison, how frightening for you! First off please take a deep breath - fact is, you were approved and adoption is no easy process. Then, frankly, I might collect some data that questions her ability to dx in your specific area of concern. For example, what were her credentials, motivated cause affiliations, and/or anything else you can find out? Also on a personal note, I would keep with your current regimen until you find a qualified professional that you can comfortably work with...just because we've learned over time (often through consequence) that others need the social reassurance of eye contact and other things about social cuing, may not mean much to real core issues. Please for you Alison, keep searching! Jeanie > > > OK, I tried to get evaluated for autistic spectrum disorders due to my > troubles at work lately. Had a hard time finding someone to do it. Just lately? What kind of troubles? I always tend to have the same troubles with people, ever since I was young. > Had a hard time finding someone to do it. Doesn't she know that many of us have trained ourselves to do this? Just because we do it, doesn't mean it comes easy. > She asked nothing of my life or development, eluded that I must be bipolar > like my mom and > is sending me for a neuropsychiatric eval. I hope you're not going to up your dose by that much! > Sent me on my merry way ... see ya in 3 months. > She questioned MANY times how I was able to get anybody to approve me to > adopt 9 kids. Try to find someone else to evaluate you. This 'doctor' sounds incompetent and uncaring. D.

What kind of troubles? I always tend to have the same troubles with people, ever since I was young. YES, BUT IT SEEMS TO AFFECT MY JOBS MORE & MORE. RIGHT NOW I'M SUSPENDED WITH PAY, SOON TO BE UNEMPLOYED. COULD EVEN LOSE MY TEACHING LICENSE. THEN WHAT WILL I DO FOR A LIVING????? > She asked nothing of my life or development, eluded that I must be bipolar > like my mom and > is sending me for a neuropsychiatric eval. I'LL SEE WHAT MY OTHER DOC HAS TO SAY BEFORE I INCREASE AGAIN. > Sent me on my merry way ... see ya in 3 months. > She questioned MANY times how I was able to get anybody to approve me to > adopt 9 kids. Try to find someone else to evaluate you. This 'doctor' sounds incompetent and uncaring. THE KEY IS ROUTINE, WHICH I LOVE. SOME ARE DEVELOPMNTALLY DELAYED, SOME ARE NOT. I'M REALLY GOOD AT IT, ACTUALLY. I DO GET FRUSSTRATED & OVERWHELMED, WHICH IS WHAT THE MEDS HELP WITH. I HAVE ONE MORE NAME. AFTER THAT, I GIVE UP. I'D RATHER FIND A JOB I CAN DO FOR MINIMUM WAGE. Guest guest
, Could the possible reason why you are having a hard time getting an diagnose because of your gender? It is really hard to get a diagnose in a female because the majority of the studies on autism are done on males, not females. I know how hard it is because when I was 4 (it was 1985), my mom took me to get an evaluation and they said that I had autistic like tendencies, but they did not diagnosed me as autistic, and I bet that if I was a male during that time period, I would get that diagnose when I was 4, not when I got it at the age of 23 (in 2004). My older sister is trying to get a referral to get her second child (my niece) for an evaluation, but the pediatrician refused, saying that it would go away if she ignored it. It is not going away because my niece has been experiencing it for years. In case you are wondering, my niece does believe that she has Asperger's herself. I hope that this could help and I believe that female autistics show the signs a lot different than our male counterparts. I think that if you went to get an evaluation for Asperger's, you would have no problems finding someone to do an evaluation. To go for a general autism evaluation would not be a good idea because most practitioners are used to giving a general autism evaluation to a young child, not an adult. > > OK, I tried to get evaluated for autistic spectrum disorders due to my > troubles at work lately.
