Guest guest
DL, I think there is just me, one . There was a time when I spelled my name with a "z" instead of an "s", due to some negativity in my past when I used the "z" I changed my mind and wanted to spell it like it was on my birth certificate and be the "real" me, no longer hiding behind the other spelling of "Lezlie". Sorry for the confusion with my name-I go by now. I started reducing the Geodon sometime last spring. It was a rough road to start with. my body really resisted not having this drug in my system, but going with longer periosds at the smaller 5% decreases when I needed to helped me to make it through. Things were difficult at the start and then leveled out for a while, and then became difficult again at the 40mg mark. I felt so miserable, so I had to keep uping the dose some and then try working back down again. I had to do this a few times until finally my body started stabilizing at dosages in the 30-20mg. Then when I hit the 24mg doasage my body seemed to adjust again and I'm not so irratible, anxious, overall miserable and fearful as I was earlier. I've had to listen to my body and work with it in order to reduce from the Geodon. Before I joined this group I was taking 160mg of Geodon and did what I now know was a bad thing to do and jumped down to 120mg and then down to the 80mg. This is when I came accross this group and learned how to do withdrawal and recovery safely and began to spare myself much pain and damage to my mind and body. DL-I think you have been with this group for awhile too. Am I right? I wish you the best as you continue to work on your withdrawal and recovery. I want to encourage you to hang in there. We are all hanging in there together. I know we won't regret it, when the day finally comes when we are totally psych drug free - Yeah! hugs deerlodge321 wrote: ,(Are there two 's/Lezlie's in the group? Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this, . It's a textbook example of how to listen to your body and do what it needs. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for your posts. It's wonderful to see the larger picture of your recovery process. You've done so well! It's inspirational for the rest of us, and I hope you can recognize your own strength during the difficult days. I've done much the same, in terms of reducing dosages. Came here after cold-turkeying too many of them, and since then, have been going much more slowly. I used to think I was a patient person, but it seems every day, withdrawal teaches me that I need to be infinitely more patient. I was on Geodon at one time, but was jerked off of it and onto something else back in the "old" days of "medicinal cocktail switching", so I don't remember much about it. Good luck with the rest of the tapering......I know you'll come through it and feel all the better. I'm in the process of reducing Klonopin now (will be one last drug to go after this), and am having to do what you described with the Geodon - take a cut, go back up, try it again, etc. When I take a very tiny cut after I've waiting a long time, it hasn't been nearly as bad as in the past. You'll be so expert at listening to your body by the time you attempt it, I'm sure you'll have an easier time of it. I know you won't hear about the job until tomorrow - but sounds like it's a pretty sure thing. Even if you don't get it - congratulations on getting to the point where you can pursue this! Awesome accomplishment! You give me the hope that I may one day, too, get further down the path of recovery. Good luck, too, with the flute playing. I can't handle it yet.......like Ros mentioned, I still have trouble even listening to much music, when pre-drugs, I couldn't live without it. And it still makes me frustrated that I can no longer read music, but one day, I'll tackle it again. Maybe at some point I'll be able to try what you describe - just playing for fun, hoping to find the joy in it at some point. Thanks for sharing your story, and best of luck to you.
