When you did your s/l, you actually had the first three letters right. Drake and Drake is a good drug book. Did you look in there under col, did you go to Google or MT Daily. On page 151 of the D & D, 2001 version, it does list colchine and what it is used for. I know that there are horrible, horrible, mush-mouth, go potty when you dictate providers out there who don't even think twice about eating candy, and potato chips is a personal offender of mine. Newly graduated or not, you've just got to have the right references. Don't the schools teach pharmacology these days? That was not meant to be a nasty question either. Guest guest
This is not your fault. This is the fault of one woman who decided to come on to this list because she was curious. Somehow she then decided to start stirring things up because she can't remember what it is like to be new. Please don't stop asking questions, as your mentor may not always be on her computer at the time you need the answer. I love this list because I feel like we are all mentors and are all helping each other out. Please don't anyone leave because of a problem started by one person. Maybe if we all stop answering her posts she will get the message and go away. I know you are doing what you can and are excited about working in this profession and I think you have a lot to offer and are always trying very hard. I wonder what the quality of this other person is like. At least I know that you will dig and dig to come up with the correct answer, rather than just deciding to put whatever you think sounds right and letting it slide. Keep up the good work. I could NOT UNDERSTAND THE DICTATOR. I know how to look up drugs.. I was merely asking for some assistance as one would do in an office. I too am getting tired of the digs and flames from one particular person on this list. I will not ask for any more help except from my " mentor. " I am not lazy and am working very hard. I am a new transcriptionist, just recently graduated. I realize I need more reference materials and I will purchase them. Thanks to everyone who has helped me. Guest guest
There is no reason for you to apologize, this is not your fault. This is a list for newbies. We are not here to judge you or anybody else on what reference books they have. Some people may be more fortunate then others in being able to afford all the reference books out there. It is none of our business if somebody does not have the funds available or even know which ones are the better ones to have. I'm sorry you feel like this and am sorry that because of one person you feel you can not ask questions anymore. Please do not let one person stop you from asking. From kindergarten up we are told if you don't understand or don't know ask. Since when does this stop? NEVER!! If you think you know it all, think again. Guest guest
WHOA, hold on there a second!! You WILL ask for help from us, darn it!! :-) The simple-minded ideals of one person do not reflect those of the majority on this list. I, for one, love getting all the different questions. Truthfully, I have learned a BUNCH since I signed up for this list. I'm not a newbie, but I certainly don't have all the answers. I've asked my share of " stupid " questions and have gotten answers that have never been suggestive of my being lazy. Just in the last couple of days, the difference between distension and distention came up. Well, I had never even given it a thought as to which one to use, but I did then! Also, when I asked about disk and disc. It was extremely helpful to get back so many different views on the usage. Please do not leave this list because of one person. Everybody on this list is an equal, as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, not everybody views it that way, thus the newbie versus oldie war that one inconsiderate person indirectly started. Guest guest
Just a thought or two from " Down Under " to encourage all in the Group to keep up the good work of sharing and increasing knowledge in medical terminology/transcription. MTs are very much the same the world over in that they are committed to producing quality results in the interest of patient care. I have been employed in hospitals and private practices in most specialty areas for many years, and consider that the many capable, thoughtful subscribers to this Group are the online equivalent of the lovely people I have been privileged to work with over the years. The " bouquet of the week " should, I think, be awarded to Margaret Grant who continues to make an outstanding contribution to resolve so many queries. Best wishes to all Kathie New Zealand Re: This is my fault.. > This is not your fault. This is the fault of one woman who decided to come on to this list because she was curious.
