Guest guest
Hello Listmates, My daughter is not " autistic " but a mix of hypotonia, ?CP, with hyposensory issues. She is metal toxic. Any hyperness from supplements, die off... we like since she seems to have more energy during those times!! Her carnitine levels have always been normal and so we have not supplemented. Read Dr JMs posts about MS- Marine from VRP. ANy experience with this? What about supplementing carnitine to someone with normal levels? Thanks, Kathy
Guest guest
Kathy, I hope any children with hypotonia will consider checking out the low oxalate diet as that has been a solution for a number of of severely hypotonic children. The one most remarkable story was of a boy in Spain who at four and a half began with a Defeat Autism Now! practitioner in Spain who did the usual treatments with no change in his hypotonia and no significant improvement in his delayed development that had been stalled in early infancy. When he began the low oxalate diet when almost six, he still couildn't even hold up his head, much less roll over, or hold himself up or crawl or stand. These issues rapidly went away on the low oxalate diet, and in one year on the diet, he basically did the development typical of the first year of life only about five or six years delayed and became very strong and coordinated. His therapist sent me before and after tapes, and they are indeed remarkable. Really, some of the most amazing changes on LOD have been in gross motor areas....involving coordination, strength and energy. You will find a mini-chapter on this diet in CSB, but for more current information, see www.lowoxalate.info and its associated yahoogroup, Trying_Low_Oxalates .
