Guest guest
Hi Val or anyone else - I have run out of my GNC Womens Ultimate multi vitamin so I haven't been taking iron in a couple of weeks but was wondering if I should start taking it independently from my multi. Can anyone recommend a good iron supplement to increase my ferritin? Thanks! Mindi
Guest guest
Hi Mindi ~ OTC brands I've seen recommended on the lists are Hema-Plex and Spatone (liquid iron). Your local health food store probably sells an herbal iron formula, but I have no idea how well it works. My holistic chiro recommended Fe-Max Iron Tonic by Medi-Herb. The Standard Process iron supplement is Ferrofood, which I've used before but not before testing for ferritin levels. You may also need supplements for digestion ~ Zypan and HCL and a good multi-enzyme ~ to help absorption. My daughter's ferritin is low (25) and it seems as if it is more a digestive issue ~ she eats plenty of steak prepared in a cast-iron skillet... she just can't digest it and absorb it. We are trying the Fe-Max tonic, Zypan, and a support product for her liver. You may also want to search " ferritin " on STTM for other recommendations. take care, ~ -----Original Message----- I have run out of my GNC Womens Ultimate multi vitamin so I haven't been taking iron in a couple of weeks but was wondering if I should start taking it independently from my multi.
