Guest guest
Hello group! I have been a lurker in this group for over a year now and have not posted previously. I have gained valuable information from those who do post and want to thank you all! I am a private pilot and will need to renew my FAA medical in May. I plan to follow the AASI program and send FAA the infromation concerning my journey with PC early so that my medical examiner can perform the medical exam without delay. I would like to email off group to discuss problems anyone has encountered with FAA and this process specifically or in general difficulties with FAA Medical post prostate cancer treatment. Guest guest
, I am a pilot but only have a sport pilot cert. The advantage of this rating is that a driver license is all that is needed for your medical. If you have a driver license and have not been denied a medical a sport pilot cert holder can fly legally. If a medical has been denied even a sport pilot cannot fly. With this in mind I would have a physical done prior to the real medical to see if I would pass the FAA requirements. If there was a question I might forgo the private cert in favor of sport pilot . I have PCa and fly quite legally and without concerns about medicals. Jeff McConkie wrote: Hello group! I have been a lurker in this group for over a year now and have not posted previously. Guest guest
Bob, I am a pilot ASEL/Instrument. I called AOPA and talked to the medical people there. They said to wait until 3 months before your physical, have a PSA that shows as close to zero as possible, and a letter from your surgeon or oncologist on his/her stationery stating that your cancer is under control or in remission and will have no bearing on your ability to fly an aircraft. If you need addreses or any other info, contact me offline. Guest guest
Bob , gave good advice. Have the letter ready but provide no more than what is asked for. You are dealing with a govt. bureaucrat. Do not mislead or cover-up anything however. I do not see a problem. d. ASEL Warman wrote: Bob, I am a pilot ASEL/Instrument.
