Using these old Free labs you ratio would be a 9. I doubt it si much

improved as this usually doens't get much better on it's own. Any time I

see RT3 over mid-range it is usually in a trouble zone.

Yes, I imagine my frees probably aren’t

much improved since my current totals are pretty low:

T4 = 6.5 (4.5 – 12.0 ug / dl)

T3 = 122 (85 – 205 ng / dl)

I don’t understand why my temps are

so unstable, though. I’m taking (equivalent) 30 mg HC. Maybe I need more,

but when I took more my temps plummeted.

Thanks,

Dana

T3/RT3 should be 10 or more.

your 122/29 = 4.2

It is very possible that more HC pushes more thyroid into action that

your body cannto use due to high RT3 and thuis cr3eates MORE stress on

the body. With RT3 issues we getinto a real rut that is neverending.

Thanks for the clarification. I was

thinking the ratio was between free T3 and rT3. I guess having high rT3

explains a lot. . .

Thanks Val. I have a doctor’s appt

on Friday, and this doc uses time released T3 for most of her mercury toxic

patients with good success. I resisted T3 in the beginning (not knowing any

better). My mistake.

She uses The Falls Pharmacy in Washington,

and all her patients I’ve heard from (several are in one of the chelation

groups) have good things to say, so keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve used

Falls for other stuff and so far they’ve been good.

So if you had high cortisol and you got stressed, would that make the same

reaction if you had RT3?

Yes, the ratio you wanted was between fT3 and rT3

(which should be 20 or more) -- but you only had T3

tested this time (that ratio is somewhat less accurate).

Bill/Val/anybody?

I've also heard from my doc re taking T3 at my request (vs. Armour). He wants me to do the SRT3. After what I've read, it seems like Cytomel is better in that you can titer up in smaller doses ie more control. Since my ferritin is so low (47) and I'm trying to stay with Isocort, this is a pretty STRESSFUL idea! : ) Can any of you tell me where I could download information regarding the RT3/T3 ratio (mine is 10). I'd like to come prepared at my next visit. Don't know how I'm going to convince him about the Cytomel, however. Thanks very much.

I don't have a super perfect answer but you could always lie. Yes, lie through you teeth. Get the RX for the SRT3, tell him you took it for a few days and no way are you going to continue. You felt horrid and you want the regular stuff.

My doctor wanted to do SR T3. I just said I had heard it wasn't that

great and I was perfectly capable of doing multiple doses. Course he

only would give me 20 mcg so I had to get my own anyway.

I would think so unless your high cortilsl has your adrenals maxxed out and when

you got stressed it migh tactually drop too low. In which cause you would get

low coritolsl symptoms whne sytressed to add to the mix.

From what many people here have posted there may be no need to lie.

Most who have used SRT3 don't find it adequate, particularly if they

have been on any non-time release form of T3 only. I have some coming,

Triyotex, and plan to give it a thorough trial, and will report.

Probably will be a few weeks until it gets here, so my report won't

likely be until early next year. Only reason I ordered it at all is my

source for TiTre was out of stock, and felt Triyotex would be better

than running out.

Thanks Sol/Birrdyy! Lying is not my forte, but there is also the question of cost!! My insurance probably won't pay for compounded SRT3. I'm pretty sure they'll pay for Cytomel. From what I've heard/read on this site, compounded SRT3 is fairly expensive and I'm on COBRA having been laid off from...you guessed it, the Endo department of a major hospital! Life is strange!

They couldn't care less if it's covered or not. They don't even understand what a 30 day supply of anything it.If he's insistent then take the RX, pretend you're filling it and tell him you got it and it didn't work.

With what they put us through, I have learned to lie if necessary.

Hi Dana,

You said you were on 2.5mg Prednisolone & 10mg HC.

That is only 20mg HC equiv NOT 30mg HC equiv!!!!!!!!!

Prednisolone 2.5 x 4 = 10mg HC plus 10mg HC = daily total 20mg HC

equiv.

So maybe you arent on enough HC?
