Guest guest
Kathy, Hello, it's again wanting to know exactly what this means. I think you sent like four e-mails, none of which I could understand. Could you at least give a summary at the top of each study. I just want to know what this means for my husband who is going to have his prostate out on Feb. 26th. This is going to change our lives forever in everyway. Never miss a thing. Guest guest
It means that they have discovered Lymph nodes hidden in the fat of some men who have heavy fat layer toward the anterior part of the prostate. If the cancer is located in that region some of it may escape to those lymph nodes. The doctors are being to told to be extra careful to not miss examining those nodes. If there is mets in those nodes then those men may be understaged, told they got all the cancer, and appropriate additional treatment may not be done. There are men who have recurrence of their cancer after treatment. They are trying to minimize this. When I first started reading these abstracts I had to read then several times with a medical dictionary so I could understand them. Everyone has difficulty at first. The American Cancer Society has a book on prostate cancer. Some men really like Prostate Cancer for Dummy’s by Dr. Lange and some men like the books by Dr Walsh and by Dr Scardino. All of the books are available at Amazon.com. They should help to get you more comfortable with the terminology.. If you have specific questions or concerns just ask and someone here should be able to answer.
