Guest guest
I am really nto sure about the test which one are they doing? the one I read th most about is the Arginine stimulation test,. if they plan on just a lod draw to check GH levels it will NOT work. GH is released in spurts mostly at night, and is gone ina matter of minutes. The firstscreening fo rit si an IGF-1 which is a metabolite of it. If it si OK your GH must be fairly good. Mine OGF-1 was undetectable, but even after 5 motnhs of GH injectiosn it was still undetectable, so I ahve stopped GH as it si not helping me. now I find out there is injectible IGF-1 but it is abtou 5 times more $$$ than GH and no way I can afford it. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
You know Val, from hypopit, says that the IGF-1 does not really indicate what your growth hormone is doing. Your IGF-1 could be high and hgh be low and vice-versa. Do you have an opinion on that ? How do you prepare for the Arginine test? Do I have to be off HC ? -If so Oh Boy....Also does HGH have anything to do with bone loss? Okay Val, hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Take care, lots of appreciation... Thanks, -- In RT3_T3 , wrote: > > I am really nto sure abouthe test which one are they doing? the one I > read th most about is the Arginine stimulation test,. if they plan on > just a lod draw to check GH levels it will NOT work. Guest guest
Before IGF-1 is even tested thyroid and cortisl need to be adjusted RIGHT. Eithe one being too low can cause GH to not convert to IGF-1, but as it is a normal metabolite of GH I would say once cortil and thyroid are corrected if oyu have low IGF-1 you almost are guaranteed to have low GH. I recently talked to a company rep that is making synthetic IGF-1 nan he says he has never heard of ANYONE aduklt woth NOIGF-1, soI am indeed a rare case. Usually evenpeople with very low GH will have some IGF-1. That is the only test my doctor does for GH before he prescribes it an he is very good with homrones, but he also does nto do the test until the cortils and thyroid are properly supported. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
OOPS, I am not sure about actual bone loss but GH does strengthen bones so it may counter the bone loss of aging that we all suffer to some degree. I do nto knwo what is needed to be don for arginine stim testing, probabyl just fasting. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
I've actually done a bit of research on this, forgive me for not having the documents to hand, but what can be generally argued is that a low IGF-1 correlates with low HGH, a high end of normal IGF-1 correlates with normal GH, but mid range IGF-1 can correlate with very low GH also, this is due to spikes in IGF-1 production, must be tested fasting and even then, within the normal range it doesn't tell you anything except what your IGF-1 was, not diagnostically accurate for HGH. I am about to do a 24 hour urine HGH test (actually have completed the collection) and it is to be tested for HGHbH, I didn't know there was a binding globulin for HGH, but I guess there is for everything else right? :-) Arginine Stim and ITT are considered diagnostically accurate, only methods that i know that are, and ITT can be dangerous for lots of people... Plus when measuring IGF-1, IGF-1 binding proteins must be counted or it's useless! will show much higher than it really is as it's pooling... called IGFBps, mainly IGFbp3 plus did you know commercially farmed cows milk drinkers can have artificially high IGF-1 levels from the Rgbh injected into cows? I have more articles squirreled away but here's a quick one: http://pituitary.mgh.harvard.edu/NCBV11I1.htm Cat > > Before IGF-1 is even tested thyroid and cortisl need to be adjusted > RIGHT. Guest guest
PS - that's HGHbG not bH, and I'm being tested for IGF-1 + IGFbg's as well so should have some comparison... could be interesting! > > > > Before IGF-1 is even tested thyroid and cortisl need to be > adjusted > > RIGHT. Guest guest
I would love to see mroe IGF-1 testing as I am feeling rather alone in this deficiency! LOL My doctor says he has NEVER seen any one wht undetectable IGF-1 til me. Even folks with VERY lwo GH or even none ona stim test have SOME IGF-1 he says usually 50-100 my lab went to 23 and the result was <23... -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
:-) you're never alone Val!!! but in my limited experience, I've never heard of zero IGF-1 either... :-O eek!~!! fwiw, my previous serum igf-1 was just in the normal range and i had turned 40 a couple of months prior (i am now about to turn 42) - it was a new assay so hard to equate it with historical tests. :-( oh well, $1,000AUD worth of tests today (that's about 33C US today - LOL) and several hundred to express courier the lot half way across the country as urgent - that'll teach me to do better research on lab stuff first!!! > > I would love to see mroe IGF-1 testing as I am feeling rather alone in > this deficiency!
