Guest guest
Hi All, Jack saw his endocrinologist on Wednesday. He has only grown 1.2cms since March and she has decided that he will have his Growth Hormone tested within the next 4-6 wks. She took blood to test his thyroxin levels as although they were within normal limits last time, they were at the lower end of the scale and if they are too low he will need to take thyroxin prior to being tested for GH. She also wants to get things started before he goes for heart surgery as she feels it will improve his strength and stamina and help him withstand the surgery. The only down side is that he has to have a central line put in under GA as his veins are so bad and she wants to make sure she has access to a good vein. It took her ages to get blood from him for the thyroxin test on Wednesday and as the anaesthetist had a hard time getting a cannula in last time she thinks this will be less traumatic for Jack. Well at least things are looking up on the growth side :-) We are off to Edinburgh tomorrow for more lithotripsy so I'll be off the list for a few days.
