RESEARCH INTO PROSTATE CANCER TREATMENT

We are currently conducting a major research study looking at hormone injections as part of the management in Prostate Cancer. Our client is a major pharmaceutical manufacturer, and is interested in the thoughts of people who are receiving these treatments for prostate cancer. Would it be possible, therefore, to discuss your thoughts over the telephone? We would firstly need to ask you a couple of screener questions and if you qualify for the full telephone interview it should take approximately 20 minutes of your time. The criteria needed are:-

1) To have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer for more than 6 months.

2) To be currently receiving injected hormonal treatments.

3) To be on monthly or 3 monthly injections.

4) Not to have taken part in any market research regarding Prostate Cancer in the last 3 months.

5) Age last birthday. (We do have quotas for various age groups so at some stage we would be unable to interview people due to the quotas being filled – so please bear with us!)

We would give you a donation of £20 as a gesture of thanks for taking part – either in the form of a cheque to you, or as a donation to the Prostate Cancer charity

We appreciate the sensitive nature of this research, but please be assured that Silver Fern Research is a medical market research agency with twenty-five years experience of conducting similar medical market research projects. We would also like to assure you that Silver Fern Research strictly abides by the Market Research Society (MRS) and Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Codes of Conduct, and that we are also registered in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Your anonymity and confidentiality would be totally respected at all times.

The research is being led by our Associate Research Director, Nick Ross, who has over ten years of experience in this area. If you would like to discuss this request in more detail or should you need any further information (please phone the Silver Fern team on - 01932 454499 for any further details). Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and we very much hope that you will be able to participate in this research. If you are interested in taking part please phone before the end of January on 01932 454499 quoting reference - SN3181 to arrange a convenient time to interview you.

Survey on injectable prostate drugs? They mean Lupron? Are they

kidding?

The answer to any and every question they could ask is that

injectables suck. They suck. They suck. They suck.

What an insulting idea, a survey. Duhh . . . . .

Hi Abordeen

We have Zoledex in the UK

I have to say that as with many drugs LHRH type drugs eg Lupron and Zoledex have side effects that vary patient to patient.

I have been on monthly Zoledex since 2004 and whilst having side effects they haven't stopped me working and living life to the full.

My side effects have been loss of libido, weight gain and some hot flushes.

I know others have had significantly more side effects
