Guest guest
I'm just throwing this out to see what responses we can get as to the longevity when having to move to androgen deprivation as primary therapy. And this would be either still on androgen deprivation therapy, or how long on this therapy before it failed and you had to move to chemotherapy. I would appreciate those who reply advise: 1) How long receiving androgen deprivation therapy, 2) Whether administered ADT1 (just an LHRH agonist), ADT2 (an LHRH agonist along with an antiandrogen - or an antiandrogen along with a 5AR inhibitor), or ADT3 with an LHRH agonist, an antiandrogen, and a 5AR inhibitor. And 3) Please make note if this length of time is the result of continuous ADT or from following intermittent androgen deprivation (IADT). This could give us some idea on how long ADT may keep our cancer in check because of continued androgen dependent prostate cancer prior to failing and becoming androgen independent prostate cancer (AIPC). I'll start with my statistics: 1) So far 11 years 2 months and continuing. 2) 60 months ADT2 (Lupron, Casodex), 23 months IADT with no maintenance medication, 13 months ADT3 (Lupron, Casodex, Avodart), 38 months IADT maintaining with Avodart and continuing. 3) Intermittent ADT once I determined I could do this. My urologist wanted me on continuous ADT with the remark "if its working, why stop." Obviously he never heard of androgen receptor mutation (ARM)! PLEASE, in replying and if receiving this on more than one list, only reply once.
