Guest guest
Hi Val, I'm in my 3rd week taking Cytomel, and wanted to let you know my experience so far, and see what you think. My T3/RT3 ratio is a 16, and my ferritin is still low at 38 (up from 26 two months ago). My adrenals were a Stage 7 six months ago, but last saliva test indicated they were at a Stage 4. So, I thought I'd give the Cytomel a try even though my ferritin isn't yet at 50, as I'd really like to get that RT3 cleared out asap. First week I took 1/2 a tab (12.5 mg) per day and 5 mg HC 2x/day. Second week I took 12.5 mg 2x/day (total 25mg) and upped the 5 mg HC to 3x/day. Third week (now) I'm taking one 25 mg tab in a.m. and one 25 mg tab in p.m. (total 50 mg) and upped the 5 mg HC to 4x/day (20 mg HC). My blood pressure has come up to about 135/90 (up about 10 pts. both top and bottom). Pulse is around 80 now. Temperature has come up to around 98.2. So far, the only real negative I'm finding is very puffy ankles and achy joints. I think they are puffier on 20 mg HC than on 10 mg HC. I had hoped to raise to 75 mg Cytomel next week, but was thinking maybe I should take it a little slower. Since I'm not getting any jitteryness and my BP and pulse aren't extremely high, the only annoying thing is a bloated feeling and the extremely swollen ankles. By morning they seem to have gone down considerably, but by the end of the next day, they are back up again. Any thoughts on what causes the puffy ankles? What would Val do? :-) Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi : I really appreciate you "journaling" your experience, especially since I'm about ready to start T3 to clear out high RT3 -- although I've been taking Isocort now for about two months (8 pellets/day). I also am trying to raise my ferritin and am very curious what specific supplement you have been taking to get your numbers up???? I'm anxious to see what Val says about the bloating/swollen ankles.... Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I had been taking Liver Tabs by Now (inexpensive). I was taking maybe 4 or 5 around lunchtime and maybe the same amount around bedtime. I started taking Vitamin C each time I took them after about the second month after reading you should take them with Vit. C. I was happy it brought my ferritin up to 38 from 26 within two months. Then I read on here about HemaPlex. The gal said taking only one at bedtime with Vit. C. brought her ferritin up pretty quick. So, I just started taking the HemaPlex about a week ago in hopes that will bring me up faster and taking one pill is easier than taking 10/day. My goal is to get to a minimum of 50 ferritin in hopes that will help the T3 work better, with the ultimate goal of getting up to 70-90. I did not have any constipation problems with the Liver Tabs, but I think, for me, the HemaPlex may be causing a little, although I believe the gal who recommended it on here said it did not cause constipation for her. I think Val might have missed my posting below and I might repost it but I know her weekends are very busy. > > Hi : > I really appreciate you " journaling " your experience, especially since I'm about ready to start T3 to clear out high RT3 -- although I've been taking Isocort now for about two months (8 pellets/day).? Guest guest
: Thanks for the good info! I'm taking Ferrous Gluconate I found at Walgreens (very inexpensive) and supposedly the most "mild" form of iron - it has 27 g. of elemental iron in each tab but I find it a bit constipating. I just tried switching to Hydrocortisone cream from Isocort. Whoa! I am surprised at the difference in dosing. Like all are saying - it is difficult to figure out hyper from hypo from too much cortils/too little. Feels like one giant on-going experiment. Keep us informed, very helpful!!!!
