Guest guest
Hi Val- Don’t mean to hijack this thread but was wondering about aldosterone testing. I “fasted” salt (less salting of food and no supplementing of salt) for 24 hours (and hadn’t taken any extra salt for at least another day before that). My sodium level was 141 and aldosterone 7. My doc says she NEVER prescribes Florinef with sodium levels that “high.” Did I not “fast” salt long enough? (It was my understanding that sodium under 145 is considered low – is that not correct? I had heard / read that aldosterone below 10 is low. Is that correct? I’m still working on thyroid and adrenals with little success so far. Been on Armour but will more than likely be switching to TR t3 (this doc’s into ’s), but I also read where low aldosterone may keep the rest from working properly. Any thoughts? Guest guest
Fasting salt causes your body to raiwe Aldosterone, that si the purpose of salt fasting to get it as high as it CAAN go, if that is the nest your body can muster it is not enough and you need Florinef. Maybe not the full 1mcg dose but 1/4 to 1/2 tab i htink is warranted a trial. Yes sodium is bets around 144 -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

Yes > sodium is bets around 144 It seems to me that if you wanted your doctor to prescribe florine it would be best to try to find a balance of normal blood sodium level while keeping your aldosterone as low as possible. I'll probably not do any salt water/sea salt for several days before my upcoming aldosterone/renin tests in two weeks but will use my normal amount of salt on other food items. I have to be off an ACE inhibitor for blood pressure for two weeks before I can test. Steve -- Steve - dudescholar4@...
