Guest guest
So, Dr. JM, What are your thoughts about Diflucan killing fungi? Does it kill, or keep it a bay? My guess is that it is die-off - watch it and if it worsens it may actually be a reaction to the diflucan, though I have given this medicine to literally hundreds of kids and have had only one have an allergic-like reaction. An allergy to diflucan would probably cause the flushing to be all over his body and not just the face. Anything is possible with our kids, however. Keep us posted. I went to the Diflucan site and saw that this is a side-effect. When I had facial flushing in reaction to an antibiotic once, my MD was concerned and said it was a serious side-effect, wanted me to stop the drug. We have been on Valtrex for 5 months, and have seen yeasty behaviors arise (although DMSA didn't ever cause them, and we've used that for 2 years!) Also, he has become less social and his handwriting has gone WAY down hill. We have been on OLE and Lauricidin for about a year together (lauricidin for a few years). My son is 6 and was never vaccinated. I don't know what to do! Also, just read this on the diflucan site: Fluconazole can not kill fungi but it stops them from spreading. So what is the point of diflucan? These things always happen on the weekend! Guest guest
It may not kill all of it, as yeast is part of the natural flora in the gut, but in literally hundreds of cases over the years it has helped kids get it under control and improve. Stopping its proliferation allows the body's own mechanisms to take over and work as they should to keep the gut in balance. Actually, any anti-fungal strong enough to kill all the yeast would kill a lot of other good creatures and need to be given under supervision in the hospital - used sometimes (not diflucan, but stronger anti-fungals) for those suffering with advanced cancer and suffering with systemic yeast that can kill them without drastic intervention. DRASTIC R NOT US!!
