Guest guest
My PSA has gone down. Age-46 Stage T1c Gleason 6 (3+3) No Bone Scan or CAT Scan Scheduled for surgery Jan 10, 2008 (one week away) Diagnosed through Biopsy 6/21/07 (2 cores out of 20 positive) Follow-up biopsy 10/07(2 cores out of 14 positive, more cancer than 1st biopsy) Date PSA 07/01/06 3.40 05/24/07 3.13 09/10/07 2.77 10/02/07 3.68 <---A slight peak 12/15/07 2.37 Ignoring 10/02, there is a steady (non-linear, more of a 2nd order polynomial curve) decline. But does it MEAN anything?!?! --Steve > > I was diagnosed with Pca in August,2007. > > My numbers are: > > Age-60 > PSA 3.17 (Had doubled in 18 months) > Stage T1c > Gleason 6 (3+3) > Bone Scan & CAT Scan-Negative > Active Surveillance > > I will be getting another PSA next week. Guest guest
Steve, It may be due to some sort of dietary change that you knowingly of unknowingly made, or it may just be a " seasonal " variation (I have read od such). Regardless, with your stats, there is no huge rush to treatment-- Have you thoroughly investigated all your options, or are you going on the one urolologist (surgeon's) recommendation? Just a caution to make sure that you have made a choice that is yours and yours alone, based on your best info and studies. Guest guest
Fuller, I tried Watchful Waiting, under the European/American eye of Dr. Bertrand Guillonneau at Memorial Sloan kettering. He said I had too much " volume " of cancer in my most recent biopsy. Positive for 2 out of 14 samples, but still Stage T1c and Gleason 3+3. I also spoke with Dr. G...for about 2 hours!...in Manhattan, and he and I went over many options. he does not perform PCa surgery, so he (theoretically) was not biased towards it. He did have manual lararoscopic surgery performed on HIMSELF about a year ago, by Guillonneau (but only aftert Guillonneau recommended to him that he consider Watchful Waiting). And my original diagnosing Uro recommended surgery, with Scheuch or Tewari. Plus my own, educated, engineering opinion also supports surgery as an option. WW was my first thought, but my expert on that (Guillonneau) put the kibosh on it. At this point, I've waited over half a year. For insurance reasons, as well as other practical reasons, I can't/shouldn't wait any longer. --Steve > > Steve, It may be due to some sort of dietary change that you > knowingly of unknowingly made, or it may just be a " seasonal " > variation (I have read od such). > > Regardless, with your stats, there is no huge rush to treatment-- > Have you thoroughly investigated all your options, or are you going > on the one urolologist (surgeon's) recommendation?
