The National Working Group on Evidence-Based

Healthcare (the Working Group) is hosting a Consumer Forum scheduled for March

6-7, 2008 in Washington, DC. “Advancing the Evidence of Experience: Practical

Issues for Patient/Consumer Inclusion”

strives to emphasize the importance and need for patient/consumer involvement

in evidence-based healthcare. This substantive and interactive program will

bring together stakeholders from all facets of healthcare. See the

attached agenda for more details.

Over two days, consumer/patient advocates, decision makers, regulators and

other key stakeholders in evidence-based health care will hear from expert

panelists about activities/strategies that promote patient/consumer inclusion

in designing and prioritizing research, reviewing evidence, and contributing to

its translation, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation. Day two

sessions will be webcast on www.evidencebasedhealthcare.org.

Forum Goals:

Achieve an active

dialogue about the role of patients and consumers in evidence-based health

care, with policy and decision-makers, payers, regulators, manufacturers

and the health research community.

Empower patient and

consumer organizations, including their local affiliates, to engage in the

evidence-based health care continuum, and health policy development.

Add to the comparative

effectiveness research dialogue on the importance of meeting

patient/consumer needs while improving patient care.

Raise the profile of

The National Working Group for Evidence-Based Healthcare (and its members)

among key regulators, decision makers, and health policy

stakeholders.
