I have my life back

After seven years of thyroid issues, 3 years of which were

unbearable, I finally have my life back. I started T3 only a year

and a half ago and had great, quick results, which unfortunatley

lasted only two months because my adrenals crashed. Needless to say,

I was heart broken but not hopeless since I atleast experienced what

T3 only can do. For me, I had to really go in baby steps (something

I am not used to) and start T3 low and increase very slowly, with the

help of some cortisol. It is truely a fine art and each person is

unique, but what worked for me was a miniscuel amount of cortisol

(2.5 mg per day--I was shaving the pills).

I have been doing great since April and am only on 30 mg of T3 per

day (certainly no where near what others need). I think the reason

why my adrenals crashed was because I was shooting for this " optimal "

dose which may be normal for others but was way too high for me.

A year ago, I could barely write out a list of all of the things I

had to remind myself to do. I have two little children and it was a

very scary time. Now, I am back to work and I feel like I am really

living my life again.

What I have learned:

--Everyone is different. Your treatment is unique to you. Trust

yourself.

--Don't give up. I'm very stubborn and refused to give up, even when

I didn't have hope.

--While I appreciate my doc and everyone on web forums who have

helped me along the way, the only way I got better was by making the

treatment work for me.

I always told myself that when I got better, I would help others. I

have not done a very good job of this because I just got busy living

my life. I hope this post gives someone hope that things can get

better on T3 only.
