Val,

Her ferritin is 39, actually a little better than several months ago.

I got her to start taking liver tabs. They had brought mine up from

26 to 38 in two months. I'm continuing to take them with Vit C. I'm

hoping she can get up to at least 50 in 6 weeks from 39.

Here are her other iron numbers:

Iron Bind. Cap (TIBC) 356 (250-450)

VIBC 217 (150-375)

Iron, Serium 139 (35-155)

Iron Saturation 39 (15-55)

She has a whole host of stuff going on that has probably messed up her

thyroid and adrenals. Some of what she takes:

Birth control pills for acne & period problems (15 years) -- saliva

tests don't seem to show her hormones being that out of whack,

but low.

Anti-depressants (on & off for 10-12 years)

Klonopin (long term) for sleep -- also Ambien with it occasionally (at

least five years).

I know the above are all really BAD, but so far she's had disastrous

results trying to get off them. I'm hoping if she can get her

thyroid in better shape, she might be able to try weaning off again.

Also taking:

Valtrex -- for high levels of EBV.

HC (10-15 mg/day -- for fibromyalgia and low adrenals

She had a urine metals test and that showed no problem with metals.

I don't have a copy in front of me, but I believe her last saliva test

still had her adrenals at about a Stage 5 or 6. She is taking about

10-15 mg HC daily and other supplements like C, D3, B's, etc. I think

her other hormones might have been low but not out of range.

Her recent blood test also showed (and I know they are bad):

Cholesterol, Total 249 (100-199)

LDL Cholesterol 157 (0-99)

C-Reactive Protein 6.0 (0.0 - 4.9) -- probably agitates fibromyalgia

I suppose all the other meds she is on and the fact she has been

suffering so long with low thyroid, etc., probably accounts for the

RT3/FT3 ratio getting so bad. Do you think that's might be the reason

the ratio is so bad?

She sees her doctor (internist and alternative) Monday morning. The

doctor had originally suggested she give Armour a try but I told her

not to because I had a suspicion her RT3 would be high and the ratio

low -- so she has held off on the Armour. I go to the same doctor and

also got her to switch me to the Cytomel recently instead of the

Armour, so she is willing to work with her patients.

Since my daughter doesn't have too much further to go to 50 on the

ferritin, I was going to suggest she ask her doctor to start her very

slowly on Cytomel. That's what I'm doing. My ferritin is about 36

and I'm doing 15 mg HC daily and started Cytomel at 12.5 mg first

week, 25 mg last week, and was going to try to up to 50 mg this week,

with an up to 20 mg HC. I just got too antsy to wait any longer on my

ferritin. So far okay the last two weeks with the Cytomel. I feel my

daughter needs to start getting some T3 in her while raising the

ferritin because she is in bad shape physically, mentally,

emotionally. Since her Rt3/FT3 ratio is so low at 8.6, do you think

it would be even harder for her body to accept the Cytomel than

someone like myself whose ratio is 16? What would you do, Val?

Also, any thoughts on any of the other labwork items above. I think

you would probably agree that all the other meds she's been in the

past 10-15 years have really messed things up.

Thank you, again, for for any possible help on your busy weekend.
