inflammation quote in: HSV1 in Alzheimer amyloid plaques

The following quote is consistent with similar quotes in Poling J et al

2006 and in Weissman et al 2008:

" Our current findings allow us to indicate the likely cascade of events

leading from HSV1 infection to AD. We suggest that the virus enters the

brain inthe elderly as their immune systems decline and then establishes

a latent infection, from which it is repeatedly reactivated by events

such as stress, immunosuppression and brain inflammation induced during

systemic infection (reviewed in [26]). "

Of course, some research groups dare mention vaccinal inflammation as

somewhat akin to the inflammation that often accompanies systemic

infection.
