Welcome to cathys4wishes cathys4wishes@... who has

joined the ProstateCancerSupport group and says:

My husband has advanced prostate cancer with mets to

the spine and lungs. I am interested in learning all I can and interacting with

others in a similar situation.

So sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis. Please

post some details – Age, PSAs leading up to the diagnosis, Gleason Score

and Staging (these terms are all explained on the YANA

- You Are Not Alone Now www.yananow.net site)

and any questions you might have. Just remember – there are no dumb questions.

We all started off where you are now, but we’ve collectively learned a

lot over the years.

Many of the men on this List have early stage

prostate cancer, so much of the discussion is on topics that may not be of much

help to you. There are however Mailing Lists where the focus is on advanced

prostate cancer and hormone therapies and I know that the men on those sites

will help you all they can. If you have not used a Mailing List before you

might find it helpful to go to http://www.yananow.net/FAQmailinglist.htm

; if you know about Lists and Forums then you might join the Malecare an online

support group for advanced prostate cancer patients, at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/advancedprostatecancer/

Some other resources that might be helpful are:

This is an excellent handbook that you can order free of charge entitled Living with Advanced Prostate Cancer When PSA

Rises During Hormone Therapy

Details of a chemotherapy treatment with Taxotere that has proved a useful

management tool

All the best

I have no medical qualifications but I was diagnosed

in ‘96: and have learned a bit since then.
