Help, worried!! My son(15) has been on 70mcg(35mcg 2x/day)compounded t3 for 2-3 months. He was up to 3 grains which didn't seemto do a thing. Cytomel didn't work out. He hasn't had any problemsand has improved. I was going to increase it soon but last night heseemed to go hypert. He woke me up in the middle of the night and washot, shakey, temp. was over 99, and his pulse was 96. BP was fine. He's still in bed this morning. Not sure what to do? ------------------------------------

If he is feeling well on his 70 mcg of T3 per day, you could pause at

this dose and see how he does and try increasing in a couple of weeks.

It could possibly be that a larger portion of the T3 got into his

system at once, giving him a temporary hyper effect. It may also mean

that he does not need that much, even though he needed a lot of

Armour. I was on 100 mcg of T4, but only have to take 30 mcg of T3

only to feel my best. Best to you, spmom

Because he's 15 years old and couldn't handle remembering to take cytomel 4-5 times per day. Plus, the doctor preferred the compounded stuff .

I thought about that last night. I suppose he could be sick. His last labs(Ft3) were around 6.3 and doctor said hyperT. but he wasn't at all hypert., in fact his temp. at the doctor's ofice was 97. Subject: Re: HelpTo: RT3_T3 Date: Sunday, January 4, 2009, 12:03 PM

As a mom, I just imagine how difficult this would be to find the

right treatment for your son. It's hard enough for ourselves. All I

can say is how I've delt with having hyper symptoms, which is to go

back to my non-symptom dose for a week or two and then try the

increase again. If you get the same result, then you know it is your

ceiling. Do you know if his adrenals are in good shape. This can

interfer with optimizing the T3.
