I used Flomax for about five months after HDR brachytherapy. In

my case, I really needed it because I could hardly urinate at all

without it. Also, at the period of worst side effects, I got up

seven times each night (that was _with_ Flomax). I think my

prostate was so inflamed by the radiation that it clamped the

urethra and I was never able to empty my bladder, just squeeze

our a little before the pressure went down and I couldn't get any

more out.

Anyway, Flomax helped a lot. The one significant side effect I

noticed was a drop in blood pressure. When I first took it, I

could hardly stand up and almost fainted once. Later I took it

again and had no real problem.

Besides the drug, another thing that helped me sleep was to keep

a urinal beside the bed. Instead of stumbling through the dark

and cold to the bathroom I just sat up, urinated into the jug,

put the cap back on, and went back to sleep.
