As I mentioned in my prior post generall the APA (American Psychological

Association) doesn't allow for non-certified or trained people to be able to

obtain the tests. Its a fairly easy process learning how to administer them

-- I had about 20 hours of coursework to learn that aspect. Interpreting

them takes quite a bit longer.

Also, what I forgot to mention in my other post is that some of the tests DO

screen for learning disabilities (LDs), certain types will come across

glaringly -- such as dyslexia or learning style. They will ask if you learn

visually, auditorily and/or kinestetically. You can see why certain learning

styles would not be conducive to the dispatch environment......if you are a

straight visual person you are, according to some people, going to have a

real hard time dispatching cause you don't see the people you are talking to

but depend more on what you hear. So they are effective for screening out

certain LD's.

I know someone recently was writing about an employee with what they thought

was dyslexia - there are certain psych tests that would have caught it if the

person had it and also, in the background when certain course work was looked

at it would have come up -- its kinda hard to miss " special ed " on a

transcript -- there are certain give away classes on that.
